With a name like Warpaint you probably expect something hard and edgy, or at least full of aggressive synth’s and distortion but you’d be totally wrong. The first single from the LA based all-female quartet full-length debut The Fool is rhythmic and moody, with translucent melodies that movie-star-turned-director Shannyn Sossamon captures beautifully in this clip. It’s probably a reflection of the difficult times of the ongoing Great Recession that so many musicians and visual artists are retreating into the shell of childhood as an easy metaphor for dealing with a world that seems to descend further into chaos and entropy every day.
