The Land of Giants

Usually an eye sore only seen as functional and necessary, this set of electrical pylons has gotten a refreshing makeover in Iceland. The Land of Giants is a conceptual project by internationally recognized architecture and design firm Choi + Shine that transforms the mundane electrical pylons into statues on the Icelandic landscape by making only small alterations to existing pylon design for the Iceland Electricity Company. For a design competition, the duo of Jin Choi and Thomas Shine, who specialize in beautiful, optitimistic and thoughtful designs, re-designed the electrical pylons in the form of giant statues that stand high in the sky as monuments (150 foot tall) , a reflection of Easter Island.

The Land of Giants won Honorable Mention.
