Double Explosure

This is 2010 and most photographers use the 2010 technique of digital images and photoshopping to produce their end result. But Atlanta-based photographer Tierney Gearon is a bit more old school when it comes to technique. In her “Double Explosure” series, Gearon does not use any digital technique, although you can could definitely achieve this effect with digital enhancement and editing. Rather, she physically double-exposes her FILM (you know, that long, clear-ish, tape-like stuff with the holes down the side) using two completely different scenarios and creates these photos that look like the subjects have been purposely posed together, or the photo processing was accidental, and that’s the beauty of it. The effect is dream-like, yet portraying reality. Hard to explain in words, so just take a look.
